Serial Killers: The Experience is an educational true-crime museum in the heart of Myrtle Beach — owned and operated by American profiler Phil Chalmers, with a collection built over four decades face-to-face with the killers themselves.
Every artifact here is real. The letters were written from prison cells. The objects were owned by the killers themselves.
Located at 514 Broadway Street in beautiful Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the museum is owned and operated by Phil Chalmers — a 41-year veteran profiler, law-enforcement trainer, true-crime writer, podcaster and television personality. Phil has studied violent offenders for four decades and personally interviewed hundreds of dangerous killers, including 250 serial killers alone.
The museum houses dozens of historical artifacts Phil received directly from the killers — Jeffrey Dahmer's apartment silverware, a clown mask from inside John Wayne Gacy's home, BTK's art set from his prison cell, and Dahmer's authenticated eyeglasses. It's designed to educate, honor the victims, separate fact from fiction, and teach the warning signs.
Phil isn't a distant curator. He's here most days, ready to answer questions and share the stories behind the cases.
He's spent his life doing the job almost no one else can stomach — sitting across the table from killers to understand why they do what they do.
A true-crime author and host of the Dennis Quaid–backed podcast Where the Bodies Are Buried, Phil has appeared on A&E's Killer Kids and Fox's Crime Watch Daily. Over the years he has interviewed serial killers, school shooters, mass murderers, family annihilators and spree killers — a roster that includes Charles Manson, Son of Sam, BTK, the Hillside Strangler, the Gainesville Ripper, the Zodiac Copycat and the Amityville Horror killer.
The front desk is stocked with true-crime reads you won't find at the airport bookstore — from Death Row Recipes to a Dark Tourism Guidebook, hand-picked to go deeper than any display case can.

Serial Killers: The Experience is owned and run by Phil and his wife Wendi — the couple guests consistently describe as the highlight of their visit. They greet visitors personally, answer every question, and have poured an enormous amount of time and care into curating each exhibit.
The museum is just getting started. Plans are underway to move to a large complex in 2027 — a true-crime-themed restaurant and speakeasy alongside an expanded museum with a live-show theater. Imagine ordering a serial killer's last meal, or catching a LIVE true-crime show under one roof. A replica Jeffrey Dahmer apartment is already on the way.
